It's been quite some time since the last major update dropped for PaintSquad. But now we are back with exciting new content!
We're happy to announce that PaintSquad 2.1.0 will be released this friday, along with another PaintFest. This update mainly focuses on improving existing mechanics as well as adding new content for Invasion.
We've decided to make some significant changes to PaintSquad's music system. Previously music streaming was enabled by default which results in the server sending note block sounds in order to play music. Due to some of the networking and sound engine limitations of Minecraft we made the choice to include all battle tracks in the resource pack to reduce the amount of packets sent ingame as well as drastically improving audio quality.
A new Invasion map is ready for play. The Abandoned Mine of Paintua features a brand new boss fight as well as several new puzzle elements. You can try this map out by creating a new Invasion room and selecting the appropriate map in the settings menu.
We've analyzed videos showcasing PaintSquad's tutorial and made the decision to rework some parts of the tutorial. We believe that this is an important step in making PaintSquad easier to understand for new players.
We made some changes to our resource pack backend which should now result in faster download times for all resource packs. As a result, we've removed the resource pack region picker from PaintSquad as it has become obsolete.
Using our new automated testing solution we made the necessary changes to PaintSquad's code to ensure the server runs smoothly with double to triple digit player counts.
