Throughout February, there's been a lot happening, but much of it is behind the scenes, therefore this month, we'll share some art, music, and other insights.

Programming

Even though we are still only doing work on various backend systems rather than on PaintSquad itself at the moment, we are making good progress and getting closer towards working on PaintSquad. Our in-house prop system, Warehouse, which we discussed in January's Recap, is also almost complete. Apart from this, we have made various improvements and enhancements on Slice, the system that powers our animated multi-block structures. (such as monorails or planes on different PaintSquad maps)

New content

New content is one area in which we haven't spoken much lately. We want to avoid giving away too much ahead of time and save some surprises for when the update is released, which is one of the main reasons behind this. But this month, we've put together a few assets and other things to showcase!

Props

As we've already mentioned in our previous post, the new release of PaintSquad will make more use of props. Our artist YellowPurple has already worked on a large pool of assets, but here's one of them: A vending machine! This one is actually not just a decorative prop, but interactive and has a use. 👀

Weapons

Whilst not a primary focus for us at this time, we're also reworking the models of a few weapons. A while ago, our previous modeller XelaFella has already worked on some weapon models for us, including this one:

Music

Another thing that will play a big role when PaintSquad returns is music. We're aiming to publish the first volume of the PaintSquad Soundtrack, filled with completely new and original music composed and produced by YellowPurple, shortly after we release PaintSquad again. To help through the wait, here's a little sneak peek snippet of one of these tracks. Please keep in mind, that this is still a work in progress, so the final version might sound different.

More things...

We've also been hard at work building a few things. Although we would prefer to keep most of this a surprise for the time being, here is a little picture of one of these things:

In addition to this, I've also been occupied with some... writing? Yes, you read that correctly! I can't say much more right now, but you should keep an eye out for it. When PaintSquad returns, some of that will be apparent rather quickly, but most will be revealed later over time.
