In August, we made huge steps towards our goal of preparing our next playtest event for PaintSquad. Today we will talk a bit about what we've achieved this month and what we need to work on next and also show a little surprise.

Welcome back to another monthly recap post. In August, most of our work went towards refactoring Xenyria's code base, but we've also prepared another surprise for all of you. 👀
(For context as to why we're refactoring Xenyria's code base, please check out this post)
This month, we've made a lot of progress towards converting some of our internal projects to Kotlin. Here is a list of all internal projects we have finished refactoring so far:
In total, we're about 50% through the refactoring process. Although we can't make any promises yet, we will try our best to host one more playtest event before the end of this year. Additionally, we've also started merging Forklift & XEEM into a new mod that will be open-sourced in the near future.
We're currently expecting to finish our refactoring phase sometime in October. Once everything is in working order again, we will work on fixing some of the core issues we've spotted in PaintSquad's gameplay along with a bit of new content. Although we can't give any estimates, we're planning to host a new PaintFest in the form of a special playtest event in the future.
It's been quite some time since we last showcased a new map for PaintSquad. We've prepared a small surprise for all of you in the form of another map showcase.
Please keep in mind that this map is still in active development and will likely undergo a few more revisions before it will be available in a playable build.
What do you think about this map? Feel free to give us feedback on our Discord server.
And with that, we have already arrived at the end of our August Recap. We hope to be back at the end of September with another recap post... and maybe another map showcase? 👀
That's all for today, thanks for reading & see all of you next month. 🩵
